Why Balance is Key

by: Sandra Pianin

Have you ever wondered how you could bring all the elements of your life together and create a harmonious existence?

The key to this process is balance; however, for some folks creating balance might take a lot of creativity and will power. Some of us find the path quite easy and refreshing. For the rest, the long road to changing chaos and calamity to peace and harmony might take a genuine commitment of elbow grease and time.

Creating a solid foundation of a good work and family situation may lead to a happier life.

Clues to getting started begin with organization and a very specific focus. Often, this means a complete turnaround and changing unproductive well-ingrained habits and patterns. Some people become chained to old ideas and forget there is more than one way to do anything.

The next step might be to begin brainstorming. Begin this process by yourself or maybe have a session with friends over tea or lunch. You will begin to notice that everyone has a different approach to a problem or beginning a job. Restructuring yourself is one idea but it takes time to develop a new schedule or new approach.

Take the example of someone trying to juggle a family and a new business. This person must take a good look at her schedule and carve out patches of time to spend with family and friends.

Be aware of your emotional approach and the type of self talk you are using. If you view situations negatively, consider putting your best foot forward and creating new positive patterns.

Also remember that building a support network of friends and family is vital to the success of your new view to life. You’ll want to balance that with the need to keep up with the newest innovations or technology in your field of endeavor.

Life has a habit of changing constantly. As the old expression goes, "one door closes and another one opens."
